3D-printed buildings and military units for King of New York

Here’s a project I recently finished: 3-printed buildings and military units for the board game King of New York:

Overview
Overview of a “game in progress”

The designs are mostly based on other people’s work, but I spent a good while in Blender modifying the models to be suitable for the game and for 3D-printing. All the models are available on Thingiverse.

There was a lot of printing to be done, so I printed the buildings over a long period of time with whatever filament was in the printer. As a result, the first step was to paint the buildings black.

After a few coats with highly diluted black paint, the models were painted with an airbrush, with a few coats of progressively lighter colours. Finally, the numbers and symbols were painted on using a brush and acrylic model paints.
