Storage box for 3D-printer

For a long time I considered ordering a custom-built flight case for my Solidoodle 2 3D-printer, but the prices were high enough that I never actually placed the order. Then, inspired by Adam Savage’s box build videos on Tested.com, I decided to build my own.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product. I may or may not add some weathering later on. The screw holes would probably work quite well with some additional weathering, but for now I’m quite happy with the way the box looks.

The stencil work could have definitely worked out much better, but my official in-universe explanation is that the Weyland-Yutani logistics division doesn’t hire professional painters or graphic artists to decorate their shipping crates.

  1. That sounds very interesting! My brother is a engineer and he wanted to buy such 3D printer, so I think that this article is right for him. Thanks a lot for sharing!
